During the 2024 Yuanxiao (Filled round balls made of glutinous rice-flour for Lantern Festival), the Aotai team will install inspection well flow monitoring sensors in batches in a metropolis. The ADV ultrasonic Doppler flow velocity sensor is responsible for this task. Due to the actual working conditions on site, a bidirectional flow sensor, which is relatively rare in underground wells, was used.

Sensors use frequency changes (Doppler effect) reflected by underwater acoustic scatterers to sense water flow velocity and direction, and then use static pressure sensors inside the sensor to sense water level changes, thereby monitoring parameters such as flow velocity, direction, water level, flow rate, and water temperature in the manhole.

Due to the tight schedule and heavy workload, the Aotai technical team was divided into four groups to cooperate with installation personnel on site for rapid deployment and complete debugging.

Bidirectional flow sensors are sensitive to the flow velocity in a small range of about 0.5 meters in front of the sensor, so compared to unidirectional flow sensors, they require higher installation requirements. In situations where on-site installation conditions are difficult to meet, flexible configuration of sensor sampling positions, angles, etc. is required. The team adapts various parameters of the sensors and overcomes the influence of installation conditions through self adjustment.

Under the premise of complying with local traffic management requirements, achieve debugging work for hundreds of sensors at corresponding time nodes.
