Working principle


The measurement principle of radar Doppler flowmeter is based on the Doppler effect in physics. According to the Doppler effect of electromagnetic waves, when there is relative motion between the wave source and the observer, the frequency of the waves perceived by the observer will be different from the frequency emitted by the wave source. The frequency change caused by relative motion is directly proportional to the relative velocity between the two objects In the radar Doppler flow measurement method, the radar sensor emits electromagnetic waves that, upon contact with the fluid surface, generate

Doppler flow meter

Sensor installation method


The installation angle of the flow velocity sensor module is 30-70 degrees. The installation angle refers to the angle between the antenna plane of the flow velocity sensor module and the horizontal plane. In some uneven river flow environments, large angles are prone to jumping, and the smaller the installation angle, the better the suppression of rainfall interference and signal quality. It is recommended to install at an angle of about 50 degrees and a recommended installation height of 2-10m.


It is recommended to install the flow velocity sensor module facing upstream, with the water flow velocity close to the flow velocity sensor module and displaying a positive velocity. If there are strong reflective obstructions such as water or metal in the direction of radar transmission, it will seriously affect the effectiveness of radar testing.


Do not pull or shake the cable artificially, and do not collide with the sensor housing. Do not use connecting cables as load-bearing wires, use connecting cables to hang heavy objects. The cable must be fixed on the cement wall of the channel and cannot shake.


When extending the cable, the 485 output cable can be extended up to 200 meters using a 0.75 square millimeter two core shielded cable.
